Community Analytics

Building a strong local economy is key to building a healthy community. But growing your community requires that you first know it! Exceed offers analytic reports designed to help Canadian communities and municipal regions build a granular understanding and identify hidden growth opportunities, and core services that may be limiting growth. Reports are highly visual and allow the exploration of large volumes of Statistics Canada data (over 2,500 variables) and comparing data across custom selected reference communities, census divisions or provinces. It combines big data with big context to filter down to what’s limiting potential growth in a community (census subdivisions), region (census division) or province in PDF format for further discovery and sharing. Reports are available for self exploration and discovery or with written analysis and insight…ready for sharing and planning.  It means our analytics are guaranteed to find a community's strengths and opportunities...insights that are often hidden using conventional analytics. See sample reports below.

The Context Problem

The underlying principle of good community analytics is context...the idea of comparing a community against comparable communities. The problem is that comparable community data is hard to get. Instead provincial averages are too often used...effectively invalidating much of the analysis. The end result is analysis that can't tell a community where it is strong or weak.

Reports provide a much more in-depth analysis than conventional methods by providing a comparison of a community with three custom groups of comparison communities. It’s literally three reports in one…where each  individual view can be custom defined. We recommend the 1st view to be a detailed local view of surrounding nearby communities (i.e. urban and rural regions within a 50 km radius), the 2nd view should compare similar communities (i.e. similar population or economic climate), while the final 3rd view is the big picture (i.e. provincial comparison).  Note that all communities or regions can also aggregated together for custom regional reports. Each report includes a graphical overview of key variables and an in-depth tabular heat map report.

Big Context: 3 Reports in 1

Reports compare a community against 3 custom selected community groups. It means our analytics are guaranteed to find a community's strengths and opportunities...insights that are often hidden using conventional analytics.
